Background
The Competition and Consumer (Industry Code – Franchising) Regulations 2024, known as the Franchising Code of Conduct, requires a franchise disclosure register to be available on the internet and accessible without charge.
The franchising code requires most franchisors to have a profile for each franchise system on the register and to publish information about the franchise. New franchisors must join the register and have a profile at least 14 days before entering into any franchise agreements.
Paragraphs 92(3)(a) and 93(3)(a) of the Franchising Code of Conduct require franchisors to provide information to be included on the franchise disclosure register in a form and manner approved by the Chairperson of the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ in writing.
