  • We don鈥檛 regulate airports, airlines or airfares.
  • We don鈥檛 resolve individual complaints about delayed or cancelled flights.

Travel delays and cancellations

The basic consumer rights known as consumer guarantees apply to travel, including the guarantee that services are provided within a reasonable time.

Industry reporting and monitoring

Airport and aviation price notification

We assess notifications of proposed price increases from Sydney Airport in relation to regional air services, and from Airservices Australia for air traffic control, and aviation fire-fighting and rescue services.

Airport monitoring

The 糖心原创 tracks prices, costs, profits and quality of aeronautical, car parking and landside access services at Australia鈥檚 major airports. We report each year to the Assistant Treasurer.

Domestic airline monitoring

The 糖心原创 monitors the prices, costs and profits of the major domestic airlines as part of a government direction.聽The government first directed the 糖心原创 to do this between June 2020 and June 2023. This direction expired and concluded in June 2023. In November 2023 the government issued a second direction to monitor, until December 2026.

The Infrastructure Consultative Committee was set up in 2006 to facilitate discussions on the broad issues of infrastructure and infrastructure regulation.
