This report provides an update on key competition and consumer developments and trends in private health insurance between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020. It focuses on insurer responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, but also provides an update on ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ enforcement action and other developments relating to the health sector.
It is the 22nd report prepared by the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ in compliance with an order agreed to by the Australian Senate, requiring the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ to provide a report on: '… any anti-competitive practices by health insurers or providers, which reduce the extent of health cover for consumers and increase their out-of-pocket medical and other expenses.'
