On 19 April 2017, the Australian Government directed the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ to conduct a wide-ranging inquiry into the supply of and demand for wholesale gas in Australia, as well as to publish regular information on the supply and pricing of gas for the next 3 years.
The ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ monitors the prices, costs and profits of the major domestic airlines as part of a government direction. The government first directed the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ to do this in June 2020. This direction expired and concluded in June 2023. In November 2023 the government issued a second direction to monitor, until December 2026.
Telstra’s structural separation undertaking and migration plan were accepted by the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ in February 2012.

On 20 August 2018, the Treasurer directed the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ to hold a public inquiry into the prices, profits and margins in the supply of electricity in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
On 28 August 2025, the Treasurer extended the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´â€™s Inquiry by directing the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ to hold a further inquiry into the supply of electricity in the NEM..
The communications market report is made up of 2 parts — competitive safeguards within the Australian telecommunications industry
and changes in the prices paid by consumers for telecommunications services. The ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ is required to publish this report by 31 December of the relevant financial year.
The ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ is responsible for monitoring compliance with the Competition and Consumer Rules, the Consumer Data Standards and Part IVD of the Competition and Consumer Act.
