• Do you or your staff make claims to customers even though you're not 100% sure they鈥檙e true?
  • Is everything you say online to promote your business accurate and truthful?
  • Have you ever dealt with a customer who was clearly vulnerable and didn't understand any of the documentation you were using?

Understand your responsibilities to customers

There are rules in place to make sure your small business treats customers fairly. Under the law, you have responsibilities to consumers. Make sure you understand them and what they mean for your business.

You must treat your customers fairly in relation to how you promote your business and sell and deliver products and services. It is against the law to engage in conduct that is misleading or deceptive, or to make false claims to consumers or other businesses.

Engaging in unfair conduct can have serious consequences for you and your business, including penalties.
